"IF YOU ARE ALIVE THEN YOU WILL MAKE A SOUND"

‘IF YOU ARE ALIVE THEN YOU WILL MAKE A SOUND’ is an installation about collective consequences. What I present is a suspended ephemeral ice cast (warmed by the room and hence the people that occupy it) destined to collect as water in a concrete casted basin. As a consequence of this natural occurrence, the sound is projected out from an analogue sound module which has been designed to detect and translate the electromagnet frequency of water into a midi synth response. As a result of using a melting catalyst, this installation exists in a cycle of landmark events, once a day for the duration of the exhibition. Starting with silence, followed by water collection and projecting sound, and finally, the ice falling, crashing and dissolving. The installation is then reset in order to restart the cycle of events.

Different to my other work, this installation does not give the audience optional parameters to interact/explore within. So long as you are alive you are contributing.
